Resetting a Forgotten Password

To change a forgotten Texas Apps site password:

  1. Open the Texas DPS Apps site (http://apps.dps.texas.gov).

  2. Select the Forgot password or user ID link.

  3. On the Reset Password page, enter your user identification in the User ID field. You can locate the User ID in the confirmation email that DPS sent you after your registration.
    Note: If you have forgotten your User ID, contact the DPS IT Service Desk at 512-424-5432.

  4. Enter the Captcha phrase in the Validation Phrase field.

  5. Select the Submit button.

  6. Shortly after submitting the password reset, you should receive an email with the title Texas DPS Password Reset Request. DPS sends the password reset to the address that you defined when initially requesting access to Texas DPS Apps.

  7. Select the link in the Texas DPS Password Reset Request email. The link should open the Reset Password page, where you must:

  8. Enter your Date of Birth

  9. Enter your Social Security Number (SSN)

  10. Enter your new password

  11. Confirm your new password

  12. Select the Submit button.
